How to Fold and Store T-Shirts

The primary methods for folding and storing T-shirts include the square fold, cylinder fold, and quick fold. Choose the appropriate method based on the storage scenario (e.g., daily wardrobe, travel, or drawer storage). Below are several commonly used and efficient folding techniques:

Square Fold (Ideal for daily wardrobe storage)

The square fold keeps T-shirts neat and visually appealing, allowing them to stand upright in drawers or shelves. This method saves space and prevents items from becoming disorganized. Follow these steps:

Lay the T-shirt face up on a flat surface and smooth out any wrinkles.

Fold the left sleeve toward the center, aligning the sleeve edge with the garment's center line.

Repeat with the right sleeve to form a rectangle.‌‌

Fold the bottom hem upward to about 10 cm below the neckline, then fold again to adjust to the desired size.‌‌

Cylinder Folding Method (Suitable for Travel or Wrinkle-Free Storage)

The cylinder folding method minimizes wrinkles, making it ideal for packing into suitcases or compact spaces. Key steps:‌‌

Lay the T-shirt flat. Fold both sleeves vertically toward the center at the bottom quarter.‌‌

Roll the garment from the neckline downward into a cylinder until reaching the bottom.‌‌

Release the initially tucked hem edge to wrap around the entire cylinder, securing its shape.‌‌

Quick Folding Method (Efficient and Time-Saving)

The three-second quick fold is perfect for urgent tidying needs, featuring simple, easy-to-learn steps:‌‌

Locate the T-shirt's horizontal center line (midpoint from shoulder to hem) and vertical center line (neckline center).‌‌

Grasp the shoulder starting point (Point A) with one hand and the intersection of both lines (Point B) with the other. Pull Point A toward the bottom (Point C) to overlap.‌‌

Shake the T-shirt to flatten it, then fold it in half to complete.‌‌
